Ramipril - Altace generally is well acceptable for the patient, and
side effects are usually calm and brief. A dry, constant cough has
been informed by the patients who are using ramipril and other ACE
inhibitors. If patient experience any of the following side effect
should report the doctor immediately like if urine is not passing in
the regular amount, having difficulty in breathing or swallowing. If
one feel dizzy and have fainted should be informed. Unusual
sweating, pain in chest, unusual heartbeat, cold feeling and
anesthetized feelings in toes and fingers should be reported to the
doctor.
Serious allergy reaction is doubtful but if feel swelling in face,
lips and tongue you should get it checked. Other side effects
include stomach ache, no stool is passing, and bad mouth taste, no
hunger, feel like vomiting, vomiting, drowsiness or have itchy
feelings in the hands or feet. General perception about Ramipril-
Altace is that it increases the level of potassium in blood which
may cause failure of kidney.
In some rare cases it may cause failure of liver and unusual
swelling in lips and throat which problem in breathing. Pregnant
women should avoid taking Altace and use some other treatment which
is suitable. An allergic reaction to this drug, characterized by
facial swelling and difficulty swallowing or breathing, requires
immediate medical attention, as does any sore throat or fever that
develops during treatment.
